This Avery Hall agency provides closely tailored health insurance and employee benefit plans by balancing the needs and concerns of the employees together with the owners of the businesses they serve while keeping the public up to date on all the rapidly changing models in the health insurance and benefits industry. Cindy Whaley has worked in the insurance industry since 1990 and with Avery Hall since 1994. With a Marketing & Management degree from University of Richmond's E. Claiborne Robins School of Business, Cindy worked for several years with Bank of America in their Relationship Banking Division.
She joined the insurance industry with Delmarva Health Plan (DHP), a local Eastern Shore HMO, specializing in health insurance sales to individuals and businesses on the Shore. With the advent of small group reform in Maryland, CareFirst purchased DHP, and Avery Hall expanded into the Easton market with the addition of Whaley and two others. Cindy was Vice President of Avery Hall's Easton office (Avery Hall Employee Benefit Services, Inc.) until April 2009, when she became President, succeeding Richard Prettyman, who retired. Avery Hall Benefit Solutions currently employs 20 associates with more than 231 years of experience in the insurance field. Currently, Cindy is an owner of Avery Hall Benefit Solutions and oversees the Easton office. Additionally, Cindy has hundreds
of business clients and enjoys helping them create solutions to meet their ever-evolving employee benefit needs.
Cindy and her husband, Dave, live in Denton and have two sons in college.

Mary M. Mengason

With 16 years experience in the insurance industry, Mary M. Mengason has an extensive knowledge of employee benefit programs. After college graduation, Mary began working in sales at Procter and Gamble. Her entrance into the insurance industry was with the Baltimore based HMO, Prudential Health Care Plan. She then went on to develop the Eastern Shore territory for Chesapeake Health Plan. While working for Chesapeake, Mary began a relationship with both the Salisbury and Easton Avery Hall offices.
The owner of Avery Hall Life Insurance Agency asked her to join their team in 1995 and she has been with Avery Hall ever since. Mary was appointed to the board of Avery Hall Life Insurance Agency in 2004. In November of 2007, Avery Hall Life Insurance Agency changed their name to Avery Hall Benefit Solutions, Inc. to more accurately describe the focus of their business. They also merged with their sister company in Easton, Avery Hall Employee Benefit Services. Currently, Mary is an owner and the vice president of Avery Hall Benefit Solutions and oversees the Salisbury office. Additionally, Mary has over a hundred clients and thoroughly enjoys working with them to understand the complexities of their group benefit plans.
Mary, her husband and her two boys live in Salisbury.
